Logitech needs to come out with some decent software or they are going to be out of business very soon. It also adds many start up items that should not be running all the time. Overall the video and audio quality is good if you just install the driver only. If you install the full software then it will take over your system and hog 70% of the memory available.
I would give the camera a full five stars, but the software problems drag it down to three. I bought two of these as my fiance is visiting her ailing parents and we wanted to see each other and free up the phone lines (we can talk for hours). We both love the cam, but have had the same error messages on both computers and various problems that seem to be related to the software.
I purchased this one without software becaused I already had some from my other webcams. The orbit can just sit on the desk, so as to not be in the way on the lcd screen. I think webcams are cool for communicating with friends and family you don't get to see often, so I would say, 'get this one' so you can stay in touch.Thanks for reading my review. I have about three different logitech webcams, one for my laptop, it is the small clip on one, and the other two are for my desktop computers at work and home. Why three, because I got them all at a good price.
all my girlfriends love it. no problems im not a web cam expert but easy to install and use.
The image quality is terrific, the light compensation technology performs equally well, and the automated tracking can keep up with my toddlers racing around the room. I'm using this for videoconferencing with skype & msn. I'm not leveraging any of the software features such as animated backgrounds etc.
